In Ireland, ingestible CBD (oils, supplements, foodstuffs) is treated as an unauthorised novel food and therefore cannot be legally placed on the market until an EU authorisation is granted. The authorities' position is zero tolerance on THC: any detectable trace brings the product under the misuse-of-drugs legislation. The FSAI enforces this actively and has issued several withdrawals of non-compliant ingestible CBD products. Hemp-seed-derived products (oil, flour) fall outside the novel food regime and remain permitted.
